The Gift that Keeps Giving

I recently stumbled upon a great organization that supports a cause I truly believe in. Cooks Who Feed is a Canadian company that “ethically produce aprons to empower food lovers to take action for a hunger-free world.” With the purchase of each apron, you are providing 100 meals to people in need.

Food insecurity is s huge problem in Canada and world wide. With the global pandemic still affecting our jobs, economy and mental health, we are surely going to see food insecurity being a bigger problem in the coming months.

Sometimes it is hard to help others in need but you can really feel good about buying these aprons. Here is how buying even one apron can help:

  • Over 1/3 of all their profits go to their charity partners so an apron sold provides 100 meals using rescued, surplus food
  • The company only use locally-sourced, recycled, and natural materials
  • The purchase of an apron helps provide fair and safe work to the marginalized women who make their aprons.

Cooks Who Feed currently has 3 charity partners; Rescuing Leftover Cuisine in the US, Second Harvest based in Canada, and Zomato Feeding India. I love how this company is looking out for not only Canadians but vulnerable people around the world. It is such a great initiative!

I recently chatted with owner Seema virtually to talk to her about Cook Who Feed. Seema always loved the idea of gathering for a meal but in the back of her mind, she was aware that many were not as fortunate. With her determination to change this, she set out to find a solution, and Cook Who Feed was born!

“I never set out to create a company. I set out to create a movement that would empower foodies everywhere to fight hunger in the most socially responsible way possible.” – Seema, Owner of Cooks Who Feed. This quote is so powerful and empowering to me since I work in the food industry and constantly writing and sharing pictures of delicious food. We cannot forget our family and friends that might be having a hard time. I hope by sharing this blog post about Cooks Who Feed can provide a reminder that there are lots of people out there that are less fortunate than us.

Another cool thing Seema has incorporated into Cooks Who Feed are some famous Celebrity chef ambassadors. You can see them all here, but let’s just say even Oprah’s previous chef supports this great cause!
