Whenever a new coffee shop opens in Hamilton, I get excited! And even better, this is literally across the street from where we live! Let me introduce you to The Inclusion Coffee House that is opened by L’Arche Hamilton. If you haven’t heard of L’Arche, they are an organization that operates out of many cities and help people with disabilities reach their full potential in the community they live in!
In Hamilton, L’Arche started the Inclusion Coffe House with that purpose in mind, to “provide environments where people can reach their full potential, lead lives rich in relationships of mutuality, and have a valid place in society where all can contribute.”
If you are also wondering where they came up with the name of their coffee shop, it’s a fun story! “John from L’Arche submitted Inclusion Coffeehouse as his choice for the cafe name and it was selected by our panel. Nineteen entries were received and the decision was tough. Other popular choices were Cafe L’Arche, The Wilted Flower, Superhero Coffee Shop, and Ark Roast Coffee.”
If you are driving through East Hamilton, you might not see this coffee shop so easily, that’s because it is located inside the Bernie Morelli Recreation Centre. Currently, due to Covid, there are some restrictions with their opening. But once things clear up, they will be open Tuesdays from 10 am-1 pm.
You will find all your favourites here, coffee, tea, cookies, muffins, bagels, and even some gluten-free items!
Even though we cannot visit the coffee house now, give them a follow on social media to give them some support! They will also post when they are officially open!
